Stranger Things may be ending, but Millie Bobby Brown isn’t done bending reality—after season 5, she’s staying in sci-fi.

Stranger Things may be wrapping up, but Millie Bobby Brown is not breaking up with Netflix. She is lining up another genre swing at the streamer, and this one sounds like a spooky sci-fi hook with a big-name producing bench behind it.

So, what is Prism?

Prism is a new series in development at Netflix with Brown set to star and executive produce. The premise comes from writer Nick Shafir's short story of the same name, first published in the second issue of Assemble Artifacts. The setup: the world starts seeing ghosts everywhere after a newly discovered phenomenon kicks in, and things escalate fast. Brown is reportedly playing Cassie, a woman who can actually communicate with these apparitions and has to figure out what is causing the outbreak before it goes off the rails.

"a newly discovered phenomenon causes ghosts to be seen all over the world"

Deadline is the one reporting all this, citing sources close to the production. Netflix has not confirmed the project yet, so file it under very-likely-but-not-official.

Who is involved

  • Millie Bobby Brown: star and executive producer, playing Cassie
  • Rachel Brosnahan: executive producer (yes, the new Lois Lane in Superman)
  • Etan Frankel: showrunner (producer alum of Shameless)
  • Anthony and Joe Russo: producers via AGBO (the Marvel directing duo)
  • Based on: Nick Shafir's short story, published in Assemble Artifacts issue 2

Status report

Prism is not in production yet and does not have a release date. No other cast has been announced.

Why this is a notable move for Brown

This would be Brown's sixth Netflix project, following Stranger Things, Damsel, The Electric State, Enola Holmes, and Enola Holmes 2. She has basically grown up at Netflix since landing Stranger Things at age 12, and with that show ending after season 5, Prism looks like the next in-house chapter. Also worth flagging: the Russos producing and Brosnahan boarding as an EP add some curious star power to a ghost story that already sounds like it wants to swing big.
