It looks like the show's writers are finally fixing the long broken storyline.

The Grey's Anatomy spin-off, which centers on the personal and professional lives of a group of Seattle firefighters, has been a steady hit for ABC since it premiered in 2018, but some fans were quick to notice that the medical show's winning formula didn't work well in a different setting. People complained that Station 19 too often made every episode about romance, without really paying attention to the firefighting itself.

This wouldn't be a problem if the romantic couples on the show were all adorable and believable, but that is not the case, and Maya and Carina's relationship has been proving this for quite some time.

Maya Bishop and Carina DeLuca were shipped together from the beginning, as these two women seemed to be perfectly complementing each other's looks, sense of humor, and inner strength. However, when the two actually started dating and eventually got married, fans were a bit disappointed and blamed the writers for moving the whole storyline way too fast.

People felt that Maya and Carina were robbed of their honeymoon and dating phase, and for a long time nothing was done to rectify this terrible mistake.

But it looks like the writers had a perfect excuse to rush the relationship between the characters, as Maya was struggling with mental health issues while Carina's expiring visa was seriously troubling her, forcing the two to quickly get engaged and then get married. This also caused a rift between them because the lovers never had a chance to spend time together peacefully, without something bothering them.

However, it looks like the writers are now starting to fix this relationship, as in the most recent episode, Carina has announced to Maya that she needs to win her back, and Maya does that by asking Carina out on a date.

Fans got absolutely ecstatic with this fresh development, arguing that the slow-burn in the characters' relationship is much more rewarding than their entire previous storyline. Yes, Carina and Maya are married, but they can still fall in love with each other all over again, and viewers will be glad to see that.

Station 19 Season 6 Episode 15 will arrive on ABC on April 20, 2023.
