There is a lot of content on Netflix, and the streaming service continues to expand. This April, dozens of new and classic shows and movies will be added to the platform, but there are only five must-see titles, the first of which drops tomorrow. Here they are.
Ripley (4th April)
This eight-part adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's novel The Talented Mr. Ripley follows Tom Ripley, who is hired by a wealthy New Yorker to travel to Italy and persuade his playboy son to return home. But Tom's introduction to the boy, Dickie Greenleaf, doesn't go quite as planned, and lies and other crimes follow. The Netflix series stars Andrew Scott, Johnny Flynn and Dakota Fanning.
Scoop (5th April)
Starring Sex Education's Gillian Anderson and The Durrells' Keeley Hawes, the biographical drama film revolves around Emily Maitlis and the staff of BBC Two's Newsnight as they were in talks to secure Prince Andrew's infamous 2019 interview, which caused a public outcry and led to his downfall. Based on the book by former Newsnight editor Sam McAlister, the film aims to show the behind-the-scenes process of preparing for the interview.
What Jennifer Did (10th April)
This true crime documentary from Jenny Popplewell of American Murder: The Family Next Door fame tells the harrowing story of Jennifer Pan, a Canadian woman who hired a hitman to kill her own parents and staged a home invasion, calling 911 to fool the police. As shocking as it sounds, Jennifer's motive will prove to be even more twisted.
Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver (19th April)
Zack Snyder's multimillion-dollar epic space saga premiered in late 2023 and was met with some controversy, receiving poor reviews from both critics and audiences. The second and final installment will follow Kora and other surviving warriors in their rebellion against the Motherworld, set on the moon of Veldt, where the team has settled to protect the local farmers and help them fight for their freedom.
Dead Boy Detectives (25th April)
Based on the title DC characters created by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, the new eight-episode series will tell the story of Edwin Payne and Charles Rowland, two dead teenagers who choose not to go to the afterlife and decide to stay in our realm to solve crimes and mysteries involving the supernatural. Along the way, the duo will also have to evade Death, even though they're already dead...
