The final chapter of Netflix's most popular project is almost here.

It seems that the second season of Squid Game was able to, if not repeat the success of its predecessor, at least come as close to it as possible.

Very soon, viewers will be treated to the new chapter that will finally complete the story of player 456. We tell you which characters will return in the next season, what you can expect from the third season and when it will be released.

Characters and Actors of Season 3 of Squid Game

In addition to Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, who played the Front Man, and Wi Ha-joon, who played the police officer who is the half-brother of the man in the black mask, will return to their roles.

Among the players, Im Si-wan will return to the screen as Player 333, a YouTube scammer who found himself in debt, as well as Jo Yu-ri, who played his pregnant ex-girlfriend.

The story of the mother-son relationship will also continue: Players 007 and 149, Yang Dong-geun and Kang Ae-shim, will return for the third season.

In addition to Gi-hun, players 388 and 120, who participated in the uprising, are also among the survivors. They will be played by Kang Ha-neul and Park Sung-hoon in the upcoming episodes.

The story of Kang No-eul, a refugee from North Korea who became one of the soldiers in pink overalls who kept order at the games, will also continue. This role will be played by actress Park Gyu-young again.

What to Expect from Season 3 of Squid Game

The third season will be the last for the series written by Hwang Dong-hyuk and will consist of seven episodes like its predecessor.

The upcoming chapter will set a final point in the story of Seong Gi-hun and tell how his noble desire to stop the deadly games will end.

The new season will also pay more attention to the character of Hwang In-ho and will probably reveal the backstory of how the former winner of the games became one of the cogs in this system and took the place of the host by putting on a black mask.

Season 3 Production Process

The second and third seasons were filmed simultaneously. This explains the short break between the releases of the seasons, which is a little more than six months.

Currently, Season 3 has been completely filmed and is in post-production. While working on the project, Hwang Dong-hyuk rewrote the ending, which was the first time in his career. Dong-hyuk also stated that he was tired of working on the project and would not work on a direct sequel.

However, the Korean director does not rule out the possibility of returning to the Squid Game universe in the future to work on a spin-off.

Squid Game Season 3 Release Date

The third season of Squid Game will premiere on Netflix on June 27, 2025, with all episodes released on the same day.
