South Park Season 27: Here’s When Every Episode Drops and How to Watch
The animated series is ditching the formula in its latest run, pivoting to a bold new direction designed to shake up expectations.
South Park is rolling out new episodes again... mostly. Season 27 has been dropping every other week since July, but this week the train hit the brakes right before the station. If you were wondering why episode 5 didn't show up, here's what happened and when it will.
So, what got delayed and why?
The show has been on a fortnightly schedule, bouncing between Comedy Central and a quick hop to Paramount+. Behind the scenes, the usual South Park chaos has been extra spicy this year. I'm told the creators' urge to poke the bear means episodes are taking longer to shape and finish. Inside baseball: this team famously works right up against air, so a last-minute yank is very on-brand.
The new episode 5 air date
Episode 5 was supposed to air in the US on Wednesday 17 September and in the UK on Thursday 18 September. Instead, it got pulled when Trey Parker and Matt Stone missed their deadline.
New plan: South Park season 27 episode 5 now airs at 10pm on Thursday 25 September 2025 on Comedy Central UK, one day after the US premiere on Wednesday 24 September.
"Apparently, when you do everything at the last minute sometimes you don't get it done. This one's on us. We didn't get it done in time. Thanks to Comedy Central and South Park fans for being so understanding. Tune in next week!"
That apology came via X (formerly Twitter). Short version: they blew the deadline, they know it, and we get the episode next week.

New episodes premiere on Comedy Central, then land on Paramount+ shortly after the TV broadcast if you prefer to stream on your own schedule.
How long is season 27?
Ten episodes total, which makes this the longest South Park run since season 23 back in 2019. After this hiccup, the show is expected to drop back into its every-other-week rhythm following the next episode. That said, the dates below could move if the news cycle (or the writers' last-minute instincts) demand it.

Catching up on older seasons
The full back catalogue is on Paramount+, and you can also add Paramount+ as a channel through Prime Video if that's easier. Worth noting: earlier in July, all 316 episodes briefly vanished from Paramount+ everywhere outside the US due to a licensing snag. That got resolved, the episodes were restored, and the library is back in one piece.
One last note: the season got off to a wobbly start while contract details were finalized, but if the team sticks to the plan after this delay, we should be back to the usual every-other-week routine.
