It’s hard to be upset when he pulls it off so well.

Netflix's The Witcher debuted in late 2019, and its dark medieval fantasy world quickly amassed a massive fanbase eager to follow the adventures of monster hunter Geralt of Rivia.

But after three successful, binge-worthy seasons, The Witcher was at risk of losing its loyal fans over the departure of its main character.

Could there be a Witcher without Henry Cavill?

Cavill, who played The Witcher so brilliantly throughout the show's run, officially hung up his sword at the end of season 3. His departure followed an Instagram post in October 2022, in which he announced his plans to leave and his replacement: Liam Hemsworth.

Starting in Season 4, Liam will don the iconic silver wig to play Geralt, and while the upcoming installment is still a long way off, we've already gotten to see exactly what Liam would look like as Geralt, and let's just say we're not disappointed.

Much like Cavill, famous for his role as Superman, Liam has the intimidating physique and strong features that Geralt's character requires, and would pull off the look in the finished costume. At first glance, you might not even see the difference, and we're not just saying this, we've seen it.

Liam doesn't just make it work, he fits it

Thanks to some impressive deep fake work, we got a glimpse of what Geralt would look like played by Liam, and we can't deny that he looks good doing it. The videos show two famous Witcher scenes, but with Liam's face replacing Cavill's, and it works, even though Liam is younger than Cavill.

Many fans were skeptical about the swap, and fiercely loyal to Geralt played by Cavill, but even they can't deny that Liam looks good.

Liam certainly makes a good looking Witcher, now all he has to do is embody the character that has been established over the last three seasons and we should hear no complaints from fans. And for those thinking the Hunger Games actor isn't the right fit, we remind you that he was in the original top 5 picks to play Geralt before The Witcher started filming with Cavill.

The decision to cast Liam makes sense and visually works better than many of us expected

Rumors have suggested that Season 4 of The Witcher will arrive on Netflix in 2024, but realistically it could be as late as 2025. We don't know exactly when we'll get our next installment of one of our current favorite fantasy series, but we do know that we can expect a new face in the lead role, and we're certainly not complaining about that, and neither should Cavill fans.
