Many viewers are against the popular ship.

CBS' Blue Bloods is definitely one of the biggest crime procedurals on the air right now, all thanks to the insane chemistry between the actors working on the show. As the story of the Reagen family gets more complicated with each new season, fans are trying to figure out the ultimate fate for the show's main characters.

And while some of the series' romantic pairings seem like a no-brainer, many viewers are not sure what to make of Danny Reagan and Maria Baez's chemistry.

While Danny and Maria work great as partners, fans are still not sold on the idea of them becoming more than just co-workers. Their deep care for each other is evident in every scene they share, but it's just not enough to convince viewers that they should become lovers, and here's why.

First of all, people hate it when writers make lovers out of partners because it kills the romantic excitement of a nascent romantic relationship. Fans prefer potential lovers to get to know one another slowly, but in the case of Maria and Danny, they just have nothing new to learn about each other.

'We don't need another couple from partners, it's too lazy and easy. I would prefer Danny have a love interest that isn't a cop whether it was that nurse he saved that asked him out after Linda died (Faith) or the Medical Examiner… or a completely new character that is neither a cop or the medium,' a fan shared on Reddit.

Also, people say that Baez and Danny's friendship is just too great to make a couple out of them, as that would take away from the chemistry they've had over the years. Cross-gender friendships often evolve into affairs on TV, so turning Reagan and Baez into lovers would be a rather lazy move on the writers' part.

'I could even see Baez fulfilling a best man role at Danny's wedding (should it ever happen). A member of one of Danny's former USMC units could show up and get smitten with Baez. There are other storylines…' another fan commented.

Ultimately, it's up to the Blue Blood writers to decide if 'Daez' actually happens or not. As Season 14 of the show has already been confirmed, fans are eagerly waiting for CBS to announce the release date, which seems to have been postponed indefinitely due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
