The singer ruined her chances of becoming an actress.

Earlier this week, Max officially confirmed that the controversial The Idol had been canceled after just one season. And although most viewers blamed show creators Sam Levinson and The Weeknd for the cancellation, it looks like the series' cast were unable to save the project as well.

While The Idol was most anticipated because of The Weeknd and Lily Rose Depp's casting as the lead characters, millions of K-pop fans were keen to watch it because BLACKPINK's Jennie played a supporting role in the show.

Fans of the Korean singer were curious to see how well Jennie would handle her acting debut, and unfortunately it looks like the megastar failed miserably. Of course, English is not Jennie's first language, but viewers felt that even that couldn't excuse her bad acting in The Idol.

Terrible acting for a terrible show

Needless to say, Jennie's die-hard fans were quick to blame The Weeknd and Levinson for ruining the singer's acting debut. But in reality, Jennie's performance was even worse than The Weeknd's, and the quality of the writing had nothing to do with it. Arguably, the Korean star would have butchered even the best of scripts with her questionable line delivery.

'Some may argue that the dialogues were bad, but in the first place, her delivery of them wasn't great and her expressions were far from natural especially in the scenes where her character was supposed to be disappointed. I've seen more rookies who had done better with worse scripts…' a fan noted on Reddit.

Jennie's future as an actress is already sealed

However disappointing that may be to the singer's fans, it looks like Jennie's future as a Hollywood actress is already ruined. Unfortunately, neither her insane singing skills nor personal charisma have had any good effect on her performance. This means Jennie can either stick to singing or try her luck as an actress in Korea.

'I like Jennie, she's a great performer; but there is no evidence that she can actually act. The Idol was a terrible show, but she was also pretty terrible in it. Having personal range does not translate into having range as an actor,' another fan commented. 'I don't see her making it big in any film industry, let alone Hollywood.'
