Sorry, Baby Yoda Fans: Grogu Still Won’t Speak in The Mandalorian and Grogu, Kathleen Kennedy Confirms
Grogu is staying silent on the big screen: Kathleen Kennedy confirms the fan favorite won’t speak in the upcoming Star Wars film The Mandalorian and Grogu.
If you were banking on The Mandalorian and Grogu being the movie where Baby Yoda finally blurts out a word, pump the brakes. Grogu is still all vibes, no vocabulary.
About that trailer moment everyone swore was a yes
In the latest trailer, around the 1:26 mark, someone asks Grogu if he is scared. He gives a firm nod and lets out a squeal that, to some ears, sounded a lot like he was saying "yes." The rest of the footage leans into his usual repertoire of coos, gurgles, and curious little noises. Naturally, the internet decided The Child was on the verge of his first official words.
So, will he talk in the movie?
Nope. Kathleen Kennedy has already shut that down. Grogu will not be speaking in The Mandalorian and Grogu. Fans hoping for a tiny green monologue (or even a clear one-syllable answer) are going to have to wait.
- Grogu stays in gurgle-and-squeal mode for his big screen debut.
- That trailer squeak was not his first word.
- He is still very good at the Force, especially when snacks are involved.
- The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters in May.
Small update, big debate. More as it develops.
