Sophie Turner and Sigourney Weaver’s Tomb Raider Series Just Added 10 New Stars, Including Harry Potter Alum Jason Isaacs
Prime Video has locked in Lara Croft’s inner circle, casting Winston, Zip, and more for its Tomb Raider series — signaling that the adventure is about to kick into high gear.
Sigourney Weaver is officially in Lara Croft territory. After a few weeks of whispering, Prime Video finally said it out loud: Weaver will star opposite series lead Sophie Turner in the streamer’s Tomb Raider series, which Phoebe Waller-Bridge is developing. The announcement didn’t just confirm Weaver — it came with a whole stack of character reveals and a few neat clues about where this version might be pulling its lore from.
So, who is Sigourney playing?
On December 6, Prime Video said Weaver will play Evelyn Wallis, a brand-new character described as a sleek, well-connected operator who wants to leverage Lara Croft’s globe-trotting skill set for her own agenda. Translation: expect an elegant power player who sees Lara as a very useful problem-solver.
Fan-service, but make it useful
The show is also threading in some names longtime fans will clock immediately: Martin Bobb-Semple is James 'Zip' Whitman, Lara’s tech whiz; Bill Paterson is Winston Smith, the trusty Croft family butler; and Jason Isaacs is Atlas de Mornay, Lara’s uncle. That last one is a deep cut. Atlas is barely in the modern games — he’s only heard in 2015’s Rise of the Tomb Raider and just mentioned in 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider — but he pops more in issue 7 of Dark Horse Comics’ rebooted Tomb Raider run. That suggests Waller-Bridge isn’t just raiding the games for inspiration; she’s cracking open the comics too.
The cast list keeps growing
- Sigourney Weaver as Evelyn Wallis, a new character with designs on Lara’s abilities
- Sophie Turner leads the series
- Celia Imrie (The Thursday Murder Club) as Francine, head of the British Museum

Who’s steering the ship
Phoebe Waller-Bridge is developing the adaptation and will co-showrun with Chad Hodge (Good Behavior). Jonathan Van Tulleken (Top Boy, Shogun) is set to direct. Waller-Bridge, for her part, sounds pretty jazzed about the lineup:
"Tomb Raider boasts a plethora of iconic characters. I am thrilled to have been able to bring some personal and fan favourites to the screen while also introducing a few new rascals of our own to the mix," Waller-Bridge said in a statement. "This cast is beyond my wildest dreams!"
Bottom line: Prime Video’s Tomb Raider is stacking the deck with legacy characters, fresh faces, and at least one lore swing that points to the comics. More to come as the adventure gears up.
