So What Happened to The Rock & Tyrese Gibson Fast & Furious Feud?
The two stars hated each other's guts.
Although the Fast & Furious cast consistently referred to each other as family, the individual egos of the actors and actresses sometimes eclipsed the camaraderie they claimed to share. While the feud between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson made headlines in the last decade, the beef between The Rock and Tyrese Gibson was arguably even more intense. Here's why.
Tyrese and The Rock started feuding the moment Universal Pictures revealed their plans to have Johnson and Jason Statham star as the leads in the spinoff movie Hobbs and Shaw. Instead of pitching a spinoff starring himself and Ludacris, Tyrese began dissing Johnson for allegedly betraying the Fast & Furious family.
Feud Gets Bigger
After the premiere and subsequent success of Hobbs and Shaw, Tyrese's resentment got out of control. He seized every chance, whether fitting or not, to publicly disrespect The Rock. However, the former WWE star chose not to retaliate against Tyrese, acting like he couldn't care less about Tyrese's antics.
'That whole thing with Tyrese, it was pretty disappointing because I had been friends with Tyrese for a very long time. I always feel like a beef requires two people to actually jump in it, and it was pretty one-sided and he had voiced his opinion a lot on social media. We haven't talked and I don't see where we would and, to me, there's no need to have a conversation,' The Rock said.
Things Get Better
Despite The Rock's reluctance to talk about the disagreement with Tyrese, the two did reconcile in 2020, laying their differences to rest after a four-hour conversation.
Furthermore, The Rock also buried the hatchet with Van Diesel. The two key figures in the franchises set aside their past differences for the sake of the Fast & Furious franchise and its ensemble cast. It's great to see that even high-profile Hollywood stars can put their egos on the back burner if they really put their minds to it.
