It looks like The Weeknd paid no attention to the show's failure.

Earlier this week, Max finally confirmed that the controversial series The Idol would not be picked up for a second season, proving that The Weeknd's first foray into acting wasn't as successful as the singer had hoped. But even though the controversy surrounding The Idol's story and sheer amount of violent and sexual scenes has died down since the show's end, some fans are still pushing Hollywood to cancel the singer.

People are rallying to blacklist The Weeknd from acting and performing, arguing that his creative input on The Idol turned the show into a borderline pornographic fever dream of the singer himself, as he and Sam Levinson changed the script to better fit the singer's vision of the project.

With so much backlash against the performer, it would only be natural that his career would be in shambles by now. But is that really the case for The Weeknd?

The Weeknd is doing better than ever

While any other actor or singer's career would have ended after the reaction The Weeknd received for The Idol, the singer is actually doing even better than before, breaking records and earning millions from streaming and concerts.

Yes, The Weeknd Knows You Can't Stand Him After The Idol; Guess How He Feels About ItBack in July, The Weeknd managed to break the London Stadium's record for highest attendance with his two-date show of the After Hours Til Dawn tour, as he managed to attract more than 160 thousand people to see him live.

Furthermore, all of his upcoming concerts are already sold out, and even though he didn't make as much as Taylor Swift is expected to make with her Eras tour, this still means that The Weeknd's career is going strong despite The Idol's flop.

He already has another movie in the works

And while some fans were quick to declare The Weeknd's acting career dead on arrival, the singer is actually already attached to another high-profile project. As of now, this secret movie is still untitled, but the fact that it is being directed by critical darling Trey Edward Shults and stars Jenna Ortega, Barry Keoghan, and Charli D'Amelio means that everyone will be talking about The Weeknd as an actor pretty soon.
