Owen Wilson’s Apple TV golf comedy is taking a bigger swing in season 2, adding SNL alum John Higgins to the roster. After a warmly received June 2025 debut, anticipation is sky-high for the next round.

Apple’s golf comedy Stick is not easing into its second swing. The show just teed up SNL’s John Higgins for a recurring role, and the clubhouse is getting crowded in a good way.

Quick refresher: Season 1 premiered in June 2025 and landed solid buzz for its warm, character-first vibe. Owen Wilson stars (and executive produces) as Pryce Cahill, a once-great golf pro who stumbles into a second act by mentoring a volatile 17-year-old phenom named Santi, played by Peter Dager. The show plays like a found-family hangout draped in fairway stripes, and it works.

Season 2 lineup at a glance

  • Owen Wilson returns as Pryce Cahill
  • Peter Dager is back as teen standout Santi
  • Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño, Lilli Kay, Timothy Olyphant, and Judy Greer all return
  • John Higgins (Please Don’t Destroy on SNL) joins in a recurring role
  • Billy Zane drops in as a guest star

Higgins is a smart add for this show’s tone. On SNL, he’s one-third of the Please Don’t Destroy trio, writing and performing those wonderfully unhinged office videos. He also co-wrote and executive produced the 2023 Universal feature Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain, and he just wrapped the upcoming Netflix film Bad Day, directed by Jake Szymanski and starring Cameron Diaz.

Behind the curtain, Stick hails from Apple Studios and was created by Jason Keller. He executive produces alongside Wilson, Ben Silverman for Propagate Content, and Entertainment 360’s Guymon Casady. The combination of that creative bench and this cast suggests Season 2 isn’t just a follow-up; it’s a flex.

No exact tee time announced yet for the new season, but between Higgins joining and Billy Zane popping by, the vibe is clear: Stick is doubling down on what made it click in the first place.
