The newly minted SNL actress has lots of talents to surprise us with.

Summary

  • SNL's most recent episode was memorable thanks to the show's new actress's vocal performance.
  • The audience was stunned by Chloe Troast's vocals.
  • The comedian has been involved with music since childhood.

It's been less than a week since the SAG-AFTRA strike came to an end, bringing life back to Hollywood. As a result, actors have been able to promote their projects (and themselves) all this time. Thus, on Saturday we saw Timothée Chalamet star in another episode of Saturday Night Live. However, it wasn't the highlight of the night despite the actor's popularity.

During the Saturday 11th episode of SNL, Timothée Chalamet took part in numerous sketches alongside the show's regular cast, including Mikey Day, Chloe Fineman, and Ego Nwodim. One of the sketches also saw a new cast member, Chloe Troast, show off her incredible vocal talent. And it wasn't something people really expected to see on SNL.

Little Orphan Cassidy

Since its premiere in 1975, Saturday Night Live has featured an extensive cast of actors. Some of these actors are also pretty good singers. For instance, Cecily Strong, who starred on SNL from 2012 to 2022, had her own musical TV series, Schmigadoon! on Apple TV+. But her vocals don't compare to what Chloe Troast pulled off in the most recent episode of the cult comedy show.

Playing the titular orphan, Troast spoke to Chalamet's Man-in-the-Moon and expressed her frustration at not being adopted in a song that left many viewers stunned.

'Took me a couple seconds to realize that it was actually Chloe singing 'cause it sounded far better than I'd think someone on SNL should sound,' one YouTuber left a comment.

Indeed, while Chloe's song lyrics were hilarious and were intended to make the audience laugh, her execution took SNL fans by surprise as hardly anyone expected to hear such a voice on the comedy show. And apparently, the newest addition to the cult show's cast has plenty of singing credits under her belt.

A Hidden Gem

Although Chloe Troast is pursuing a career in comedy – she performed at small stand-up venues across the US before being cast on SNL in October – she has impressive singing skills. And while the comedian hasn't really ventured into music, there are plenty of videos of her singing on YouTube.

For example, Chloe Troast performed at her graduation from New York University. But there's an even cuter clip from 2010 of little Chloe singing On My Own for Les Miserables.

With that in mind, it's a mystery why the actress isn't trying to make it in the music industry – maybe her passion for comedy wins out.

SNL returns with another episode on November 18th.
