Skip the Espresso and Wake Up to Coffee Oatmeal That Supercharges Your Morning
Bold coffee meets a whisper-light dessert—an easy indulgence to thrill you and your loved ones.
If your morning routine feels like a rerun, give it a small plot twist: coffee oatmeal. Yes, coffee in oatmeal. It smells amazing, has a gentle hint of bitterness to wake up your taste buds, and actually keeps you full. It cooks fast, looks good in the bowl, and beats the usual coffee-with-toast situation by a mile.
What you need
Quick-cooking oats, 60 g (about 4 tbsp); water, 200 ml; milk, 100 ml; freshly brewed strong black coffee, 50 ml; sugar, 1 tsp or to taste; a pinch of salt; unsalted butter, 5 g (about 1/2 tsp); a pinch of ground cinnamon if you like; toppings for serving such as nuts, berries, or sliced banana; honey or maple syrup for extra sweetness if you want it.
How to make it
- Brew the coffee first: make 50 ml of strong black coffee using whatever method you trust and let it cool slightly.
- In a small saucepan, bring the water and milk to a gentle boil over medium heat. Add a pinch of salt, pour in the oats, then lower the heat. Cook 3–5 minutes, stirring now and then, until it thickens.
- Stir in the cooled coffee until the color and aroma are evenly distributed. Add the sugar and, if you are in the mood, a pinch of cinnamon. Let it bubble on low another 1–2 minutes so the flavors settle in.
- Take it off the heat and melt in the butter. That tiny bit gives the oatmeal a silkier, creamier finish.
Spoon into a bowl and dress it up: sliced banana, berries, or chopped nuts all work. If you want more sweetness, a little honey or maple syrup does the trick. The result is a breakfast that smells like your favorite cafe and eats like a proper meal. Energy now, snack cravings later.
