Simon Pegg Reveals His On-Screen Time for The Boys Season 4
The actor is happy to be back.
In recent years people have been growing increasingly tired of the deluge of Marvel and DC superhero movies and TV shows, and yet, when Amazon Prime Video released The Boys, it was an instant hit with broad audiences far beyond the usual demographic superhero franchises are targeted at.
Following a group of vengeful individuals, the Boys, who confront crass and arrogant 'supes', the show challenges every conventional superhero trope. As much as it is fictional, The Boys explores the power gap between different people and its ramifications for their lives. The darkness of this unorthodox story gave it immense popularity with fans and made sure it got renewed for multiple seasons, with three instalments out and a fourth on the way.
Perhaps one of the biggest contributors to The Boys' success is the large, stellar cast. Simon Pegg, whom you might recognise from the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, also works on the show. Although his involvement with The Boys was relatively short-lived – the Mission: Impossible star appeared in only five episodes during the first and third seasons – it still served as a major Easter Egg. Fortunately, the actor will be returning in the upcoming fourth season.
In a recent interview with Collider, Simon Pegg revealed that his character, Hugh Campbell Sr., will be seen in season 4 again after a long hiatus. Furthermore, the actor added he was feeling happy about reprising the role.
'I had so much fun on that show. It was so great to go back and play Hugh Sr. I love Jack [Quaid]. It was great to work with Rosemarie DeWitt, who plays Hughie’s mom, who comes back. It's going to be great. You're gonna love it,' Pegg told the website.
As for the amount of Hugh Sr.'s screen time, Simon says he'll be putting in an appearance in about four episodes. Given that it's already been confirmed the fourth season will comprise eight episodes like all the previous ones, Simon Pegg's character will be present in half the episodes.
We don't know the exact date of the new instalment's premier, but seeing how all the previous seasons aired from the beginning of summer to as late as early fall, we should probably expect to see season 4 of The Boys any time now.
