Sex Education is Done, But What About Spinoffs?
The beloved story doesn't have to end yet.
More often than not, teen dramas do not make for good viewing. Typically, they are silly, sloppy, and unoriginal. However, there are some gems that appeal even to adult viewers. Netflix's Sex Education is certainly one of them.
Debuting in 2019, Sex Education made an immediate impact with its unconventional portrayal of teenagers. These weren't just walking-talking cardboard stereotypes but seemingly real individuals with their own issues and lives. As a result, the show won the hearts and minds of millions of viewers worldwide and established itself as one of Netflix's flagship series. Now, after an impressive four-year run, it has come to its logical conclusion. But does the world of Sex Education really have to end?
Sex Education Spin-Offs
When shows achieve the level of success and impact that Sex Education has, audiences have a difficult time letting go. Networks will usually capitalize on this by creating multiple spin-offs set in the same 'universe.' Naturally, many might wonder if the hit Netflix show will be getting spin-offs of its own in the future.
Fortunately or unfortunately, there is no definitive answer to this question at this point. Thus, Sex Education's creator, Laurie Nunn, has revealed that she believes there are numerous opportunities for Sex Education spin-offs. However, she is not yet ready to explore them.
'There are so many different avenues to explore Moordale more. I've really loved some of the new characters that have come into series four. I think it would be really cool to maybe see some more of them. But, to be honest, I'm not really thinking about any spin-offs right now. I'm just sort of taking a break and getting to know what my brain feels without writing Sex Education for a bit,' Nunn told The Hollywood Reporter.
Sex Education Season 4
Season 4 was only released less than two weeks ago. Assuming many of you may not have watched it yet, we won't be going into any details about what happens in it. Suffice it to say, it's a solid offering.
Exploring the final weeks of the beloved characters at Moordale, season 4 introduced new characters to the story and made it even more diverse than before. Most importantly, the show has a very satisfying, albeit bittersweet, ending that proves Sex Education is a modern TV masterpiece.
You can binge-watch the entire show on Netflix.
