Secret Invasion is Officially Better Than Ms. Marvel – At Least in Viewership

Ever since Marvel's Secret Invasion was announced in December 2020, it had been one of the most anticipated shows for MCU fans, who wanted to see the iconic Samuel L. Jackson finally return to his role as Nick Fury. Also, people were hoping to see a more grounded and realistic take on the beloved comic book franchise, and it looks like Marvel has met the fans' high expectations for the series.

It's no secret that a lot of MCU shows have struggled to become compelling to both viewers and critics, as people have lambasted them for poor writing, subpar CGI, and a tendency to waste too much time on unimportant plot developments that didn't change anything for the franchise as a whole.

Fortunately, Secret Invasion seems to have overcome the problems of the earlier series like She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel, presenting itself as a well-written and mature show right from the first episodes. And fans are loving it, apparently.

According to Samba TV, the debut episode of Secret Invasion was watched by 994 thousand US households during its first five days of streaming. Don't be fooled by the seemingly large number — this is in fact a pretty horrible result for an MCU series.

While shows like Loki and Moon Knight attracted millions of viewers to watch their debut episodes, Secret Invasion was only able to surpass Ms. Marvel's abysmal 775 thousand debut results, but these viewership figures don't mean the show is a bummer on all fronts.

It looks like fans seem to love Secret Invasion a lot more than She-Hulk and Mr. Marvel, showcasing a moderate but quite positive 74% audience score over on Rotten Tomatoes.

Despite the generally positive audience response, one thing's for sure — fans are quite tired of the MCU and the countless series it spawns every year, so even a show starring Samuel L. Jackson and focusing on humanity's fight against the Skrulls can't get viewers to turn on their televisions. But at least Secret Invasion is better than Ms. Marvel, hurray!

Secret Invasion Episode 3 will be released on July 5, 2023, on Disney+.
