Ghostface is poised for a blood-red box-office comeback: early tracking has Scream 7 slicing toward one of the franchise’s best openings when Paramount drops it in US theaters later this month, with Kevin Williamson at the helm and Neve Campbell returning.

Ghostface is lacing up for another run at the box office, and the early read says sharp. The new sequel is lining up for a strong launch that could rank near the top of the franchise.

Early box office read

Tracking points to a mid-$30 million domestic opening weekend for Scream 7. If that sticks, it lands as the second-biggest debut in the series, trailing only 2023's Scream VI, which opened to $44.4 million. For a seventh entry, that is a flex.

What the trackers are seeing

The film is polling strongest with the 17–34 crowd, and interest is broad across diverse audiences. Early 'first choice' scores are pacing ahead of comps like Scream VI, The Conjuring: Last Rites ($84M domestic), and Final Destination: Bloodlines ($51.6M). Tickets open Monday after a pre-game Super Bowl ad, and once presales kick in, we will get a cleaner read on demand.

There is a caveat tucked into the data: with smaller-grossing titles such as Send Help and Iron Lung currently sitting in the comparison set, some projections could read a little puffed up. Worth keeping in mind before crowning a champ.

The movie

Kevin Williamson is directing this one, which feels like a full-circle shake-up for a franchise he helped launch. Neve Campbell returns as Sidney Prescott, now living in a quiet town with a life she actually likes. A fresh Ghostface shows up anyway, zeroing in on her daughter (Isabel May). Sidney chooses to stop running and take the fight to the thing that keeps knocking on her door, with the goal of ending the bloodshed for good.

Cast

  • Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott
  • Isabel May as Sidney's daughter
  • Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers
  • Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin
  • Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin
  • Joel McHale as Mark Evans
  • Plus more franchise familiars and fresh meat

Release plan

Scream 7 hits U.S. theaters February 27, 2026, via Paramount Pictures. Advance tickets go live Monday following the Super Bowl pre-game spot, so expect the forecast to firm up right after that.
