Saved by The CW: FBoy Island Picked Up After HBO Max Cancellation
It looks like the reality show has managed to get another shot at success thanks to the broadcast network.
The current craze for reality dating shows is still there, and every TV channel and streaming service wants such a show to stay relevant. But it seems that HBO Max has had enough of FBoy Island, a dating show in which three women choose between their potential suitors, secretly divided between those who are ready for an adult relationship and those who are completely unaccepting of it.
Despite the great premise, it seems that HBO was not satisfied with the number of viewers and canceled the series after only two seasons.
However, just as fans began to mourn the loss of their favorite reality show, The CW stepped in to take over production for the third season of FBoy Island.
The network sees the potential for real success in the series and fans are hoping that the third season will reimagine the winning formula of the series.
And the potential for success is certainly there - people liked the idea of FBoys being sent to sparse living conditions after being eliminated, while good guys were sent to live in luxury apartments. According to some fans, The CW could embody these elements of the narrative by making the disagreement between the two male factions a core element of the show.
After all, there is room for improvement everywhere, as people are pretty sure that both the challenges and the dates could have been much better in the HBO version.
Perhaps The CW will correct the mistakes of its predecessors without creating new ones?
But one thing still worries fans even after the news of the Season 3 renewal – how will the broadcast network reimagine the show's adult themes? After all, many of the things shown on HBO Max cannot be shown on The CW, and so the new owner of FBoy Island has to figure out how to preserve the old fanbase while gaining a new one.
