It looks like the second season of the raunchy drama has failed to live up to its star's expectations.

In 2021, Netflix's Sex/Life became one of those shows that everyone watches but no one seems to love, but the series starring Sarah Shahi was surprisingly renewed for a second season, despite the fact that both critics and viewers gave it a rather cold reception.

But the show was rather cheap to produce, so the second season premiered in March of this year, proving once again that Sex/Life didn't have the potential to become a really popular series — and it looks like Sarah Shahi understood this already during the filming.

The story of a woman trying to start a new life by traveling down memory lane and indulging in all kinds of sexual affairs certainly had some potential, but the second season destroyed everything and became a dull and superficial spectacle too boring even for those viewers who enjoyed season one. Shahi tried to salvage the situation during the shooting, suggesting various ideas on how to make the show better, but no one from the creative team paid any attention to the star's take on the doomed series.

'I definitely did not have the support that I did in the first season from the people involved in the show. [There were] more moments that felt very gimmicky. I'm never going to work for Netflix again now after saying all this, but I can't lie,' Shahi said on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast.

Fans were relieved to hear that Shahi herself didn't appreciate the direction Sex/Life took in season two and praised the star for not being afraid to speak out against the streaming giant's work ethic.

Since Shahi was one of the biggest reasons why people continued to watch the show, she definitely should have had some sort of creative control over the project, and the end result certainly proves that the producers and writers should have listened to the star.

With Sex/Life canceled after season two, it's unlikely that we'll never see Shahi on Netflix again, as the streaming service is probably not happy that she spilled the beans about the behind-the-scenes troubles.
