Outlander's Sam Heughan has caught the eye of the Duchess of York, and it's for a saucy series.

Sam Heughan has portrayed the dashing Jamie Fraser on Outlander since its debut in 2014 and has undoubtedly played a crucial part in the remarkable success the show has seen so far.

But with the recent announcement that the historical series will be wrapping up after its eighth season, the stars of the show will inevitably be moving on to new projects. And it looks like there might be something intriguing lined up for the Scottish actor.

Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, recently made an appearance on Good Morning Britain to discuss her newest novel, A Most Intriguing Lady. Inspired by her great-great-aunt, the book is about a crime-fighting socialite Lady Mary and women who push the boundaries. As the Duchess is gearing up for a television adaptation, she couldn't resist revealing that her dream casting choice for the leading man is none other than Sam Heughan.

In a conversation with Kate Garraway and Adil Ray, Ferguson exuded enthusiasm for her literary creation. 'It's fantastically delicious! It's Peaky Blinders meets Pride and Prejudice,' she explained.

As the Duchess further described the plot, she quickly added that there is, in fact, 'a bit of sex in it.' She then went on to attribute this to her growing confidence as an author, with this being the second book in the series.

Adil, joining in the banter, asked if the book would be adapted for television and even expressed his desire to be part of the project. 'I'm looking for a part in it! Are you casting?' he playfully joked.

The Duchess responded laughingly that the show would certainly be highly thrilling as she's hoping for Heughan's character Jamie to 'come out of Outlander' and step right into her series. 'I'm just putting it out there, right Jamie? Of course, Claire would be upset (referring to Caitríona Balfe's character),' she said.

Now, the real question is: Will Heughan answer Ferguson's call and venture into this new realm? The prospect of witnessing his undeniable talent grace the screen once again, this time in the world of Ferguson's novel, is a compelling one indeed. But whether he ultimately accepts the challenge or not, one thing is certain - Heughan certainly won't disappoint.
