Sam Heughan Getting Emotional About Outlander Ending is All of Us Right Now
The stars are also sad to say goodbye to the beloved characters.
It's hard to believe that Starz's Outlander has been around for almost a decade. The first season of Diana Gabaldon's adaptation premiered in 2014, amassing a huge fan base, and the show still boasts millions of viewers who are all eager to know how the story of time-traveling lovers will end.
And they won't have to wait long — the upcoming Season 7 of the show is said to be the penultimate installment, so the series is now nearing its finish line.
After the filming of Season 8 is completed, the show's leading stars Sam Heughan and Caitríona Balfe will be free to roam the world and pursue new career opportunities. Naturally, both actors must be excited to finally step out of the Starz project and explore different roles in other movies and TV series.
However, saying goodbye to the beloved show will be just as hard for the cast members as it is for fans, and Sam Heughan has recently shared his sentiments about ending his tenure on Outlander.
'Yeah, the end of Season 7, all of a sudden you can feel it on the set. Everyone started to go, "Oh, actually, we're going to come back and do this again and that's it." Everybody got pretty emotional about it. And I think it's going to be a huge change in our lives. It would be really sad to say goodbye to this amazing journey,' Heughan said.
So it looks like the end of Outlander is really upon us, as every member of the cast and crew have suddenly realized. Needless to say, fans of the series feel that too, and we all hope the next two seasons will end the show on a high note.
As for the cast's future careers, fans are not too worried about Sam Heughan. The actor is often mentioned as one of the frontrunners for the role of James Bond, but even if he does not land the iconic Agent 007 part, Heughan is sure to delight us with more exciting projects.
Outlander Season 7 will arrive on Starz on June 16, 2023.
