Sabrina Carpenter's Favorite Movie Is One You've Never Heard Of

Sabrina Carpenter might be dominating the 2020s pop scene, but her favorite movie is straight out of a psychedelic '60s fever dream — and no, it's not something you'd ever find trending on Netflix.
It's Across the Universe, a trippy 2007 Beatles musical that most people either missed completely or barely remember.
The film, directed by Julie Taymor (The Lion King on Broadway, Frida), is a full-blown jukebox musical powered entirely by Beatles songs — 34 of them, to be exact — and it leans hard into the Vietnam War, peace protests, flower power, and magical mystery tour vibes. It stars Jim Sturgess and Evan Rachel Wood as Jude and Lucy (subtle), a pair of star-crossed lovers navigating love, war, and acid trips across America. There's also Max (Joe Anderson), Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix stand-ins, psychedelic animated sequences, and cameo appearances from Bono and Joe Cocker.
And no, it didn't do well in theaters — Across the Universe pulled in just $29.6 million worldwide on a reported $70 million budget. It was a financial flop, but it's since built a cult following thanks to its bold visuals, iconic soundtrack, and completely unhinged commitment to the bit.
Sabrina, who's built her entire aesthetic around retro glam, vintage filters, and throwback production (see: Espresso, Manchild), has never been shy about her love for The Beatles.
On Hot Ones, host Sean Evans brought it up while listing off her obsessions: Across the Universe as one of her favorite movies, The White Album as one of her favorite records, and meeting Paul McCartney as a career highlight. She confirmed all of it without hesitation and even aced a Beatles trivia round.
