Rumour Hints at First Survivor 45 Contestant, & It's Someone We Met Already
It looks like one unlucky contestant will have a second chance to win the coveted Sole Survivor trophy.
Survivor has been one of the most popular and respected reality shows for 44 consecutive seasons, captivating fans with the spectacle of seemingly ordinary people breaking under pressure or transforming into champions while living in the wilderness.
The show has never lost its sense of reality, with contestants clashing, getting injured, and some being sent home earlier than expected.
One particular contestant from Season 44, Bruce Perreault, is preparing to take another shot at winning the show.
According to InsideSurvivor, Bruce will be announced as the first confirmed contestant for Survivor season 45 in the near future. The producers felt that Bruce deserved another chance after being medically evacuated due to a concussion he sustained in the first episode of last season.
Fans were shocked at the start of the season and wondered how disappointed Bruce must have been to leave so early. Now, he has a real chance to prove everyone wrong and make the upcoming 45th season all about him.
And it looks like Jeff Probst himself asked him to come back, as the host made a rather unexpected announcement on the official Survivor podcast.
‘Here’s the announcement – we’re officially inviting Bruce to play Survivor again. First player of the new era, invited back. It’s kind of exciting, but it just felt like the right call. We don’t have a season yet, lots to coordinate – he got to leave his job again, leave his family… But it’s an open invitation, so hopefully we get Bruce back out on that island again,’ Probst said.
Some people are wondering if other contestants who had to leave in season 44 due to medical reasons might also return, with many asking questions about Mathew, who left on his own accord.
While some believe Mathew should be invited back, others argue CBS probably didn't like it that he put his health first and left the show early, essentially wasting the network's money. So, in all probability, Bruce is going to be the only familiar face in the next season, apart from Jeff Probst, that is!
Filming for the forthcoming season is set to commence shortly; however, CBS has yet to officially confirm the identities of the upcoming contestants. Nevertheless, it has been verified that the next season will take place in Fiji and is slated for release this autumn.
