Robert Pattinson Calls Dune 3 Filming Experience Absolutely Incredible—Fans Eager For More
Robert Pattinson is firing up anticipation for Dune: Part Three, raving about an “absolutely incredible” filming experience as he joins Denis Villeneuve’s epic sci-fi finale — and with his mysterious role shrouded in secrecy, speculation is running wild.
Alright, let's talk Dune 3, because apparently Robert Pattinson is having the time of his life over there, and he's getting all philosophical about it too. The internet is buzzing about his recent comments, and even if you're not a die-hard Dune fan, the behind-the-scenes vibes sound pretty wild.
Robert Pattinson is Living His Best Sci-Fi Life
Pattinson is the new kid on Arrakis for Dune: Part Three, Denis Villeneuve's (allegedly final) entry in what's become one of the best-reviewed sci-fi trilogies in years. As for his actual character, the studio is playing it close to the chest, but the internet rumor mill has him pegged as Scytale, aka the main villain this time around.
He's not confirming or denying anything about who he plays, but he does want everyone to know that filming this thing was next-level weird and incredible. Here's how he summed it up in an interview with GQ:
'You’ll never experience these things in any other profession. I mean, literally, I was experiencing things which hardly anybody in history has or will ever experience, and it’s just absolutely incredible.'
If that sounds a bit dramatic, well, try shooting a blockbuster on a remote desert planet (okay, fine, it's still Earth, but you get the idea).
That ‘Oh Crap, I’m Actually in Dune’ Moment
Pattinson also shared this funny moment where reality kind of hit him in the face—he's out in the desert, filming with Zendaya, and it finally clicks: wait, this is a Dune movie. He put it like this:
'Being out in the desert shooting Dune, it’s weird. I remember shooting a scene with Zendaya, the first scene we shot together out in the desert, I’m like, "Oh! We’re, like, in Dune!" And she’s like, "Yeah… we’re doing a Dune movie." But it really was like, it really feels like you’re in a Dune movie. It was really, really fun.'
Not your average day at work. Also, a quick aside, this isn't the first time Pattinson and Zendaya have worked together—they were both in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey and Kristoffer Borgli's The Drama. Hollywood really is a small world sometimes.
What's Going On in Dune: Part Three?
So where is this saga heading? The third movie is jumping ahead a solid 15–20 years from where we last saw Paul Atreides (yes, Timothée Chalamet is back in the leather and sand). The rest of the cast is just as stacked as ever:
- Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan
- Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides
- Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho
- Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck
- Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica
- Nakoa-Wolf Momoa as Leto II Atreides
- Ida Brooke as Ghanima Atreides
Denis Villeneuve is back in the director's chair with Jon Spaihts helping out on the script, and this chapter is adapting Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah (the 1969 sequel novel, for the book nerds out there).
If you're marking calendars, Dune: Part Three is currently scheduled to hit theaters December 18, 2026. Get ready for even more giant worms, political intrigue, and sand—lots of sand.
