Richard Osman's House of Games Return Date Revealed — Sooner Than You Think

Off air since March, the show’s absence has only cranked up the hype—viewers are hungry for more.
House of Games is clocking back in for another round of very polite chaos. Season nine hits BBC Two at teatime, and yes, the weird prizes are still a thing.
When and where
The new season starts Monday 29 September at 6pm on BBC Two, then continues in the same slot Tuesday through Friday. The show last popped up in March, so if you have an Osman-shaped gap in your early evening, consider it filled. Episodes will also be on iPlayer.
What you are getting
Richard Osman presides over the usual mix of straight-up trivia and silly twists: picture rounds, word games, and the kind of formats that sound simple until you are actually playing them. There is a new roster of guests each week, a daily winner scoops a cheeky branded prize, and scores roll over so a proper champ is crowned every Friday. The show first launched in 2017 and has basically become the UK’s most laid-back competitive sport.
Week 1 line-up
- Mark Steel – author, broadcaster, and stand-up comedian
- Melanie Bracewell – comedian
- Jenny Powell – TV presenter
- Ruth Madeley – actor
Yes, they have already filmed Christmas
Because TV is allergic to linear time, we also already know who is on the Festive House of Games special this Christmas. Osman said back in June on Instagram that cameras were rolling, and he dropped the guest list: Rhys Darby, Joanna Page, Molly Rainford, and Alex Brooker.
"The magic of TV recording schedules. A very Merry Christmas today from us all on House of Games!"
That caption pretty much sums up the vibe: wishing you a Merry Christmas in midsummer while a runner drags a novelty suitcase full of prize coasters past craft services. Inside baseball, yes, but also exactly why this show works.
