Resident Evil Requiem Director Eyes Silent Hill f Purchase, Says Horror Rivalry Keeps Everyone On Their Toes
Hype hits fever pitch ahead of the drop—no waiting: the instant it lands, it’s getting played.
Konami got their spooky train out of the station first with Silent Hill f, and Capcom does not seem bothered. In fact, Resident Evil Requiem director Koshi Nakanishi sounds downright happy to have competition, and he says he’s buying Silent Hill f himself. Honestly, I love this energy.
Competition? He’s into it
In a new chat with Video Games Chronicle, Nakanishi was asked about Silent Hill f and the broader survival horror boom. He didn’t hedge.
"I welcome it. Competition is what keeps everyone on their toes in a given genre or space within the gaming industry, so I think it’s great to have more titles in the AAA survival horror space."
"I really want to buy Silent Hill F. I’m playing it straight away!"
Developers openly stanning other teams’ games is always nice to see, but this one has a little inside baseball to it. Resident Evil and Silent Hill have been in conversation with each other for decades, and the people behind them actually talk. Just three years ago, Resident Evil mastermind Shinji Mikami sat down with Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama for a long YouTube conversation about building horror, making games, and trying to leave something that lasts. So yeah, Nakanishi being eager to dive into Konami’s new one checks out.
How Silent Hill f is landing so far
- Steam response: off to a 'Very Positive' start
- Metacritic: sitting at a solid 86
- Sales: already cleared 1 million copies
Given that momentum, it’s not shocking that other devs are paying attention — and apparently buying a copy like the rest of us.
What’s next for Resident Evil
Resident Evil Requiem isn’t here yet, but Capcom dated it: the game launches on February 27, 2026. If Silent Hill f is any indication, the genre is having a moment. Now it’s on Requiem to make some noise when it finally shows up.
