You’ve got to give these series a try before you ring in the New Year.

With just 3 months left, 2023 is quickly coming to an end, but that still gives you plenty of time to sit down and try out at least one of these brilliant shows, or all of them.

A slow-burn dystopian sci-fi series about class, conspiracies and the pursuit of the truth, all taking place in a massive underground silo, home to a generation of thousands of survivors after the earth became a toxic, lifeless wasteland.

With a deeply convincing performance by Rebecca Ferguson as an engineer-turned-sheriff investigating a series of murders, this story will have you on the fence between feeling hopeful and hopeless until the very end (which delivers another twist for the fate of humanity).

4. Inside No. 9

2023 saw the release of the 8th season of this dark comedy anthology, and it feels criminal that it has gone under so many of our radars, for so long. Each episode is different, and the show’s creativity and unpredictability has garnered praise from critics, especially since it hasn’t lost its edge or an unique storytelling style after nearly 10 years and 8 seasons.

Some could compare it to Black Mirror, but in this case it could be incredibly creepy or ridiculously comedic, but that’s half of what draws people to it.

3. The Bear

If you’ve got an appetite for family drama and the dynamics of a bustling small sandwich shop fighting to stay afloat, then you have to see The Bear. Season 1 received raving reviews, it was beautifully raw and chaotic and intense, and then season 2 came along and literally turned up the heat.

The characters feel real and their arcs are compelling, and this show actually serves as an honest and believable representation of the food service industry, according to fans in the industry.

2. Succession

This comedy drama puts family dynamics and drama on a mega-scale as when the patriarch of a massive media company steps down, causing a vicious and greedy family feud.

There are currently 4 seasons of this theatrical tale, with morally corrupt characters and plenty of comedic sibling rivalry. If you haven’t watched at least one season, what are you waiting for?

This is not your average zombie survival story, and did we mention it stars Pedro Pascal?

We’ve waited a long time for a good live adaptation of a video game, and this year we finally got one. The Last of Us stays true to the original game, has excellent CGI, compelling acting and is full of thrilling shocks and surprises for those who have not played the game. Those who have played the game may have a few spoilers, but get to enjoy the nostalgia that comes with the game brought to life on screen.
