Quentin Tarantino is back in the Kill Bill universe, resurrecting The Lost Chapter: Yuki’s Revenge — a cut concept from the original script — while teasing what’s next: a Kill Bill origin story and an animated movie built around two of his most iconic characters.

Quentin Tarantino is back poking around the Kill Bill sandbox, and that has him talking about all kinds of what-ifs: a Bill origin story, an animated one-off starring familiar crooks, and a long-promised Kill Bill supercut finally getting a date.

Back to Kill Bill... in Fortnite, of all places

Tarantino just resurfaced an old idea from the original Kill Bill script as a standalone piece called 'The Lost Chapter: Yuki's Revenge.' It never made it into the films, but now it's out in the wild as an action-heavy experience you can watch in Fortnite. Yes, that Fortnite.

The prequel Tarantino actually wants to make

While promoting Yuki's Revenge, he was asked (again) if he'd ever do more Kill Bill. He said he already has a prequel in mind, though timing is the question. He told Pop Culture News he had mapped it out years ago, then burned out making the original movie.

'I like the idea of a Bill origin. A story of Bill, about how Bill became Bill and the three godfathers that made Bill: Esteban Vihaio, Pai Mei, and Hattori Hanzo. Will I live long enough to do that? That remains to be seen.'

If you need a refresher: Esteban Vihaio is the sleazy kingpin Beatrix visits in Vol. 2, Pai Mei is the brutal trainer behind her fighting style, and Hattori Hanzo is the legendary swordsmith. As a blueprint for a prequel, it actually makes a lot of sense.

Animation is on the table now

Working on Yuki's Revenge opened the door to more animation ideas. Tarantino said he could see himself finding a sweet spot between what he just did and Japanese anime, especially for the kinds of projects that simply aren't doable in live action anymore.

Case in point: the long-chased Vega Brothers concept. Tarantino has teased that since the 90s. Michael Madsen played Vic Vega (Mr. Blonde) in Reservoir Dogs; John Travolta played Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction. An animated take could finally let him tell that story without worrying about actors' ages or continuity gymnastics.

  • Now on Fortnite: 'The Lost Chapter: Yuki's Revenge' — an idea cut from the original Kill Bill script
  • Tarantino's prequel he actually likes: 'Bill' — an origin story shaped by Esteban Vihaio, Pai Mei, and Hattori Hanzo
  • Animation possibilities: a hybrid style between Yuki's Revenge and anime; could make a Vega Brothers story viable at last
  • Reality check: he's got other things to do first, and schedule will decide if 'Bill' ever shoots
  • Next release on the calendar: 'Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair' (Vol. 1 + Vol. 2 together) hits December 5, 2025

What actually comes next

In the near term, Tarantino's next official release is 'Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair' — a combined cut of Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 dropping December 5, 2025. As for the Bill prequel and that animated criminals project, both are real ideas on his board. Whether he gets to them? Sounds like it's all about bandwidth.
