Carrie is back: Prime Video’s eight-episode reboot has wrapped and is targeting a late-year debut, with Katee Sackhoff hinting the premiere lands later this year.

This one feels right on brand: Prime Video is rolling out a fresh take on Stephen King's Carrie, and Katee Sackhoff just put a pin in when we're seeing it. Think spooky season, 2026.

Speaking on stage at Fan Expo Vancouver, Sackhoff said the eight-episode series is headed for an October 2026 premiere. Production wrapped back in October 2025, and the plan had been 'sometime in 2026,' so this locks the show into the obvious month for a prom-night meltdown.

"Back to Mike Flanagan, yeah... the Flanniverse... October of 2026, Carrie comes out on Amazon. You guys are in for a treat. It's very good. It's very good."

Pressed for more, she kept it tight but teased the ingredients you want from Carrie.

"I cannot say anything... I mean, it's Carrie. There's fire... There might be some blood. Yeah, I'm just excited. You guys are gonna love it."

The series comes from Mike Flanagan, who has made a cottage industry out of refined, slow-burn horror and has a strong track record with King adaptations. Sackhoff backed him up on that front:

"Mike Flanagan is so good at what he does: smart, psychological horror... And he's very, very good at adapting Stephen King, and Stephen trusts him."

What we know right now

  • Prime Video's Carrie is an eight-episode adaptation of Stephen King's novel, led by creator Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House, among others).
  • Production wrapped in October 2025.
  • Release window: October 2026. Amazon has yet to plant an exact date.
  • Expect the classic hallmarks of Carrie on screen again — and yes, fire and blood are on the menu.
  • Katee Sackhoff shared the timing update during a panel at Fan Expo Vancouver.

October is the correct answer for Carrie, and Flanagan steering the ship sets a pretty high bar. Now it's just a matter of waiting for a specific day to circle on the calendar.
