Warner Bros. is stirring the cauldron early: Practical Magic 2 will now arrive September 11, 2026—one week ahead of schedule—reuniting Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman for the fantasy sequel.
Witches, circle the calendar. Warner Bros. just nudged Practical Magic 2 up by a week, and yes, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are back.

Practical Magic 2 now opens September 11, 2026. It previously held September 18, 2026, so this is a one-week hop forward.
What we know so far
The sequel is drawn from a later installment in Alice Hoffman’s Practical Magic book series, though the studio is keeping the exact storyline under wraps. Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the 1998 film, handles the screenplay. Susanne Bier is directing. Bullock and Kidman are producing alongside Denise Di Novi.

Quick rewind: the 1998 original
The first Practical Magic, released in 1998 and adapted from Hoffman’s 1995 novel, followed the Owens sisters, Sally (Bullock) and Gillian (Kidman), who try to deal with the abusive Jimmy Angelov (Goran Visnjic) and end up tangling with his not-exactly-gone presence. Their magical fix kicks off trouble that draws the attention of cop Gary Hallet (Aidan Quinn) and unleashes an evil spirit that threatens the family line. It wasn’t a critical darling in its day, but it’s grown into a full-on cult favorite.
That film was directed by Griffin Dunne from a script by Robin Swicord, Akiva Goldsman, and Adam Brooks, and also starred Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing as the aunts.
Short version: same witches, new chapter, sooner than planned. If they’re sliding it up a week this far out, the studio probably likes the look of that date.
