After a breakout first run, Ponies has fans on high alert for Season 2—will the buddy spy thriller return, and if so, when can we expect its next round of covert capers, sharp humor, and heart?

Let’s talk ‘Ponies’. After that first-season run on Peacock, everyone wants to know if we’re getting more of this buddy spy caper that mixes quips with surprisingly earnest moments. Short version: there’s interest, there’s a cliffhanger, but there’s still no greenlight.

Where Season 2 stands

There’s no release date estimate for ‘Ponies’ Season 2 because the show hasn’t been renewed (or canceled) yet. Season 1 debuted on Peacock on January 15, 2026, with all eight episodes dropping at once. Even with a wild finale twist and a pretty warm fan response, Peacock hasn’t officially ordered more.

As of today, neither the network nor the creative team has confirmed a continuation. The ending clearly tees up another chapter, but until an official renewal lands, timing is a question mark.

What the creators have teased

Here’s a quirky wrinkle: back in January 2025 — a full year before Season 1 premiered — showrunners/writers Susanna Fogel and David Iserson told Collider they already had confident plans for a second season. Fogel said the next stretch would push the two leads into bigger personal and geopolitical stakes, specifically through a CIA storyline that ratchets up U.S.-Russia tensions.

"They’re different people at the end of the season than they were at the beginning, and in Season 2, they’re just going to have to re-ask themselves these questions about what personally is in this for them and what are the stakes for them, and I think that becomes exciting."

Translation: the characters got shaken up in Season 1, and Season 2 (if it happens) would force them to figure out who they are now and what they’re really willing to risk.

Who might return (if Season 2 happens)

  • Emilia Clarke
  • Haley Lu Richardson
  • Adrian Lester
  • Artjom Gilz
  • Nicholas Podany
  • Petro Ninovskyi
  • Vic Michaelis
  • ...and others

The bottom line

No renewal, no release window. The cliffhanger suggests the creative team has more story in the tank, and the show’s blend of charm, humor, and heart clearly connected with viewers. Now it’s on Peacock to make a call. Until then, expect radio silence on dates.
