Peter Dinklage Isn't the One in the Toxic Avenger Suit—Here's the Actor Who Is

Peter Dinklage might headline The Toxic Avenger reboot, but he's not the one stomping around in radioactive slime.
That honor goes to Luisa Guerreiro, the veteran movement artist who physically plays Toxie in all his grotesque, mop-wielding glory.
Dinklage stars as Winston Gooze — the man behind the mutation — and provides Toxie's voice and emotional core. But when it comes to the full-body performance under layers of prosthetics, it's Guerreiro who brings the monster to life.
Dinklage's Voice, Guerreiro's Body
The movie, directed by Macon Blair, is a red-band, unrated, practical-effects-heavy remake of the cult classic. It premiered last year and hits theaters August 29, 2025, under distributor Cineverse. Critics are already on board — the film holds a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes — but most of the buzz until now has focused squarely on Dinklage.
Behind the scenes, though, it's Guerreiro in the suit, delivering every lumbering step, twisted gesture, and mutant grunt. Her work isn't stunt doubling — she fully inhabits the character throughout the film, under what is reportedly an extremely demanding amount of prosthetic gear.
Who Is Luisa Guerreiro?
Guerreiro's resume is packed with physical and creature performance work. She trained at Royal Holloway and Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London and has earned recognition Off-West End. She's performed with Cirque du Soleil, worked as a puppeteer, and specializes in screen combat and full-body transformation roles.
Her recent credits include motion-capture work on Baldur's Gate III, Deliver Us Mars, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and Netflix's animated series Bad Dinosaurs. She's also been involved in stage productions like Wicked, blending physical theater with creature work.
Taking to Instagram after the news broke, Guerreiro wrote:
"Anyone who knows me knows I love combat, prosthetics, acting, and stunt work (when I'm allowed – big respect to the stuntees out there)... so THIS JOB... being Toxie and being able to employ all these passions plus some... well... I am so grateful, appreciative, and proud! Just wanna go see it for myself now. The script had me crying with laughter, so I WAAAANNNA SEE IT ON THE BIG SCREEN!"
When The Toxic Avenger lands in theaters on August 29, fans will finally see not just a cult icon reborn, but the hidden artistry it took to bring him back — mop, muck, and all.
