Perfect Blue is finally getting the 4K UHD treatment it deserves. If you have been waiting to put Satoshi Kon’s mind-melter on your shelf in actual 4K, the date is set.

Want to watch it now?
The 4K remaster has been playing in U.S. theaters since October 3, 2025 and is still on screens. Hit GKIDS’ official site to find showtimes and buy tickets by region; pricing varies by theater.
If you’d rather stay home, the remaster is also available on demand in the U.S. and Canada. You can rent or buy it on Apple TV, Prime Video, Google Play, Vudu, and YouTube Movies.
While we’re here: other classics that need 4K
Perfect Blue getting the upgrade just highlights how many heavy hitters are still waiting. Off the top: Cowboy Bebop (Shinichiro Watanabe), Neon Genesis Evangelion (Hideaki Anno), Grave of the Fireflies (Isao Takahata), Steamboy (Katsuhiro Otomo), and Patlabor: The Movie (Mamoru Oshii) all deserve proper 4K releases. Some are streaming in HD, some have Blu-rays, but none of those are true UHD restorations yet.
Short version: you can catch Perfect Blue’s 4K remaster in theaters now, grab it digitally in the U.S. and Canada, and circle December 23, 2025 if you want the loaded 3-disc set. I’m in for the lecture alone.
