Quick catch-up: where Episode 3 left us

Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson hopped aboard the Princess Andromeda, the sketchy luxe ship that is definitely not just a cruise. That hour pulled back the curtain on the Great Prophecy, forced Annabeth to finally come clean about what she has been hiding from Percy, and put Luke's actual plan on the table. The mission is now as clear as it is dangerous: rescue Grover and track down the Golden Fleece, which means closing in on the Sea of Monsters.

What Episode 4 is setting up

The title screams Clarisse, and that tracks. Last week had her charging after the Fleece with an army of fallen soldiers, shifting her from classic rival to something a lot more complicated (and, frankly, heroic). The post-credits tag was basically a trailer: Clarisse and her undead crew reach a mysterious island, Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson look ready to link up with her Iron Ship, and we get a quick glimpse of Clarisse and Percy dueling on an island we have not seen before. Then Clarisse flat-out announces they have entered the Sea of Monsters, and a massive creature surges out of the water. It sure looks like we are finally meeting the gatekeepers themselves, Scylla and Charybdis.

That lines up with one of the book's most pivotal sequences: sailing past the twin monsters guarding the sea's entrance, followed by a full-on ocean battle. The show has been pretty faithful to Rick Riordan's pages while steadily dialing up the scale, so expect this one to feel bigger, louder, and, if Walker Scobell is to be believed, almost feature-length.

'It is its own movie'

"It's its own movie, to be honest. I remember that was the first table read we did, where we hadn't read it beforehand. They wanted us all to read it there and experience it for the first time with them."

That was Scobell (Percy) talking to Den of Geek at SCAD TVfest back in February 2025, and it's a nice little peek behind the curtain: the cast did a cold table read because the episode swings that big.

The road ahead

Four episodes left after this, with weekly drops through January 21, 2026 on Disney+ and Hulu. If you need a refresher run, Season 2 episodes 1-3 are streaming now on Disney+ in the US. Buckle up. The Sea of Monsters is open for business.
