Penelope's Stunning Transformation in Season 3 Sends Bridgerton Fans into a Frenzy
Of course, fans were excited at the news that Season 3 was getting underway, but it was Penelope's transformation in the recently released clip that stole the spotlight.
Fans caught a glimpse of her in the recently released clip on the official Instagram account @bridgertonnetflix, announcing that filming of Season 3 had begun. Unsurprisingly, the announcement drew a huge amount of excitement from Bridgerton fans, but a lot of the hype was directed not only at the upcoming season, but at Nicola Coughlan, who appeared at the end of the clip to announce the news, and she looked very different from what viewers are used to.
Fans couldn't help but rave about her transformation from Seasons 1 and 2, describing her as 'stunning,' 'radiant,' and 'angelic.'
One fan pointed this out saying, 'They did a great job in the previous seasons making someone that gorgeous into a 'wallflower' but now she can shine!'
And we can only agree. Penelope has indeed gone from wallflower to gorgeous wildflower for the upcoming season, with some major changes, the first being her wig. Many fans expressed their relief that she had ditched the wig used in previous seasons, which the actress herself referred to as looking like a 'sad poodle.'
'I was meant to look like a sad poodle, so I looked like a sad poodle,' she said in an interview with US magazine back in 2022.
Many fans were debating whether she was wearing a wig or if it was her natural hair in the clip but were in agreement that it looked far better and more natural than her previous up-dos, which they found to be too orange.
The wigs, like many other elements, were intentional in leading up to her much-anticipated glow-up.
Penelope also wore a glamorous makeup look, with a dark smokey eye, that had many fans theorizing that the cast must have been filming a ball scene, and wishing they could see what dress she had been wearing.
In the book, this is the time when Penelope starts to gain confidence and finally starts to make her own choices with her wardrobe. Fans are hoping this means no more citrus yellow dresses, which were unflattering to her figure and skin tone. Instead, they're hoping to see her in some blush colors, or greens and blues.
In a clip, Coughlan wore a black tracksuit that showed off her natural physique. Some fans commented that she looks to have lost weight, but this is hard to judge as her unflattering dresses certainly have packed on the pounds in past seasons.
Hopefully, this signals the end of the elaborate sad poodle hairdos, with too many bows, and the childlike, puffy yellow dresses with too many jewels.
It is high time for this wallflower to bloom, and if this short glimpse was any indication, we can expect a long overdue transformation for Penelope in Season 3, and we simply cannot wait.
