Peacock’s 96% Rotten Tomatoes Hit Just Dropped a Season 2 Update Fans Won’t Love
Fans of Peacock’s 96% Rotten Tomatoes spy thriller Ponies shouldn’t hold their breath—Haley Lu Richardson says she’s heard nothing about a Season 2, leaving the show’s future up in the air.
If you were hoping for a quick Season 2 update on Peacock's Ponies, take a breath. Haley Lu Richardson says she is as in the dark as the rest of us.
Where things stand
While promoting another project, Richardson was asked about the future of Ponies. Her answer was pretty blunt:
"I have absolutely no idea. No one tells me anything."
She did light up talking about the response to the show and her character:
"I love the response and that people are loving it and relating to Bea and Twila and their friendship. I have never loved a character more than I love Twila. She has been very therapeutic for me to play."
What Ponies is
Created by Susanna Fogel and David Iserson, Ponies stars Haley Lu Richardson opposite Emilia Clarke. The premise: two widows of CIA agents step into the life their husbands left behind after a fatal mission, taking on undercover work in 1970s Moscow while a mole hunt and murky deaths swirl around them.
The series premiered January 15, 2026 on Peacock, pulled a 96% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and has been hanging around Peacock's Top 10. Reviews have frequently compared its espionage-comedy blend to Apple TV+ series Slow Horses.
That cliffhanger finale
The Season 1 ending left more than a few threads dangling, by design:
- Chris and Cheryl were unmasked as Soviet moles inside the CIA, but their motives remain a question mark.
- Chris's survival was left unexplained.
- Bea and Twila wound up staring down KGB guns in the final moments.
Season 2 plans vs. reality
Fogel and Iserson have said they pitched Ponies as an ongoing series, with Season 2 mapped out and ideas that push beyond the Russian setting. Renewal status: TBD at Peacock. For now, Richardson is waiting on the same call everyone else is.
