Paramount+ Greenlights Dexter: Resurrection for Season 2 — Watch the Announcement Video

Paramount+ is bringing Dexter: Resurrection back for Season 2. The July 2025 sequel from developer Clyde Phillips continues Michael C. Hall’s return as Dexter Morgan, with Uma Thurman as Charley—watch the announcement video.
Dexter is not done slicing up your summer. Paramount+ has officially ordered Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection, and Michael C. Hall delivered the news himself.
"Hey, what’s up? It’s Michael C. Hall, here. First of all, I just want to thank all the fans for tuning in and taking the Dexter: Resurrection ride with us this summer. Hope you enjoyed it. And, secondly, we’ve been greenlit for another season. There’s more to come. The writers room is assembling now, and details will be forthcoming. But I wanted to be the first to let you know that the story continues."
What just happened
Paramount+ has officially renewed Dexter: Resurrection for a second season. Hall announced it in a video posted on the Dexter YouTube channel. The takeaway: the writers room is being put together now, so expect updates later, but the show is moving forward. No premiere date yet.
Quick refresher on Resurrection
Dexter: Resurrection premiered in July 2025 as a sequel to both Dexter and Dexter: New Blood. It comes from developer Clyde Phillips and brings Michael C. Hall back as Miami’s most polite nightmare, Dexter Morgan. The main ensemble also tapped a few familiar faces and some big new ones.
- Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan
- Uma Thurman as Charley
- Jack Alcott as Harrison Morgan
- David Zayas as Angel Batista
- Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara
- Kadia Saraf as Detective Claudette Wallace
- Dominic Fumusa as Detective Melvin Oliva
- Emilia Suarez as Elsa Rivera
- James Remar as Harry Morgan
- Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater
The timing is... interesting
This renewal lands right after Paramount+ axed the other Dexter project, Dexter: Original Sin. That prequel had been renewed for a second season back in April. Then the Paramount/Skydance merger happened, the franchise rights shifted from Showtime/MTV Entertainment to Paramount Television Studios, and PTV Studios reversed course, saying Original Sin Season 2 was no longer happening. So, one Dexter door closed while this one swung open.
What we still do not know
No episode count, no casting confirmations for returning players, and no window for when Season 2 will premiere. For now: writers are assembling, the story continues, and the Dark Passenger clearly still has places to be.
