Outlander's Upcoming Season 7: Bigger Than Ever, Promises Sam Heughan
It looks like the next instalment may very well surprise fans.
Since 2014, Starz's Outlander has been one of the best fantasy series out there. The story of 20th-century nurse Claire Randall, who travels centuries into the past and falls in love with Jamie Fraser, has attracted legions of fans and held their attention. While the show's first three seasons were a masterclass in acting, directing, and suspense, later instalments began to falter as the story shifted from misty Scotland to colonial America, which did not sit well with fans of the original storyline.
Despite Season 6 being the lowest-rated season in Outlander history, with fans criticising it for slow narrative progression, soap opera vibes, and cheap production value, it appears that the show's legacy can still be salvaged. The upcoming seventh season is already being teased to fans as one of the best so far.
Sam Heughan, who portrays Jamie on the show, recently revealed that the upcoming season will have a much bigger scope than any of the previous seasons. Not only will Jamie have to prevent Claire from being wrongfully executed for murder, but all the characters will also have to navigate a major historical event - the American Revolution.
Considering the crew spent nearly half a year filming the new season, the American Revolution's famous battles that will feature in the story should impress fans with their sheer scale and true-to-life depiction. With Heughan himself teasing that the upcoming season will be the best yet, there is a more optimistic feeling about the show's legacy.

Furthermore, the upcoming seventh season will be the penultimate one, as it's already been announced that Season 8 will be the last. Starz will undoubtedly strive to make the last episodes the best ones yet, as the entire Outlander legacy is currently at stake.
Outlander Season 7 will arrive on Starz on 16 June 2023.
