Fans are a little worried about the finale of Outlander.

While Starz's Outlander has managed to stand on its own and become one of the most popular fantasy shows out there, it can't be denied that a large part of the show's success came from Diana Gabaldon's time-traveling book series.

Faithfully adapting the storylines of the original novels, Outlander has secured love of Gabaldon's readers, while also attracting new fans to the show.

The upcoming Season 7, set to premiere on June 16, will once again follow an already released book, but fans are a bit worried about the series' final eighth installment. The last novel in Gabaldon's Outlander saga is yet to be released, putting the show's screenwriters in a Game of Thrones-like problem.

Since George R. R. Martin himself didn't write the final book of his epic fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire, Game of Thrones' writers were forced to come up with their own vision for the final fate of the characters. And now that Outlander is approaching the same problem, fans are scared and hoping that Starz won't ruin the show after so much work has been done to build up the characters and their stories.

Fortunately, it seems Outlander executive producer Maril Davis is confident in the writers' success, arguing that fans won't be disappointed with Claire and Jamie's fates in the finale.

'We won't do what [Gabaldon] has done, just because I think we feel that would be slightly disrespectful. Obviously, she has the last book coming out, and we want her to have that ending for herself. So, we will not step on her ending. Myself and one of the actors are the only two people who have read [the book's ending]. I have not shared that with anyone else, so our showrunner couldn't come up with something that he thinks is similar to that,' Davis revealed at the ATX Television Festival.

Of course, those fans who have read Gabaldon's books and watched the show are a little worried about the series deviating from the author's vision in its final moments. But on the other hand, it's great that the Starz adaptation will feature a different finale to the beloved characters' stories, as having two endings instead of one is a great way to keep Outlander legacy alive and kicking.
