Fans are unsure how the show will end.

There's no denying that Outlander is one of the most popular fantasy shows currently airing. The tale of time-traveling lovers has been a massive hit for Starz since its 2014 debut. Almost a decade later, fans remain deeply invested in Claire and Jamie's journey. However, the frequent hiatuses of the show have been a source of frustration for many. When Season 7 premiered earlier this summer, viewers expected to see the penultimate season in its entirety. Yet, Starz chose to divide it, scheduling the release of the second half for 2024.

However, this decision might not be all bad, as the recent season ended on a tantalizing cliffhanger with Jamie and Claire finally returning to Scotland after an extended stay in America. Furthermore, it appears the writers have significant challenges in store for the star-crossed lovers in the upcoming episodes of Season 7.

Trials and Tribulations

While Outlander is far from a light-hearted series, viewers trust that Jamie and Claire will conclude their tale together, albeit after enduring numerous obstacles. Matthew B. Roberts, the executive producer, recently hinted at some challenging times ahead for the pair in the latter half of Season 7.

'The one thing that was mandatory when we were breaking the first half is we have to end on an upbeat. We all know what happens to these two people. They are good people and bad things happen to good people,' Roberts said.

Happy Ending

However, Roberts quickly added that, despite the adversities the couple will encounter in upcoming episodes, the series conclusion will undoubtedly be 'uplifting'. This statement hints at the anticipated happy resolution for Claire and Jamie in the final episode.

Yet, this revelation didn't surprise the show's followers. Many argue that Outlander is inherently a romance; therefore, a tragic ending for the protagonists would deviate from the genre's standards too much.
