One of Bridgerton Season 3's Key Castings? This Mysterious Bachelor
Is Colin in for some stiff competition?
Fasten your seatbelts, dear readers, as the Bridgerton universe's 1815th social season just got a whole lot hotter. Like its predecessors, the upcoming Season 3 will focus on the matrimonial dynamics of Regency-era London's high society.
Several familiar characters, including the new season's protagonist Penelope Featherington, will embark on a quest to find suitable partners. Already, some intriguing new faces are set to join the mix.
The male cast of Bridgerton Season 3 has been augmented by James Phoon, Sam Phillips, and Daniel Francis, who will portray various eligible bachelors. Moreover, some more recent casting news has fans abuzz with excitement.
David Mumeni To Portray Lord Samadani
Bridgerton fans recently discovered a United Agents page for British film and television actor David Mumeni, with some fascinating details about the recent developments in his career.
‘He has just finished filming a regular role in the hotly anticipated next series of BRIDGERTON – where he will soon be seen rocking a glorious pair of sideburns,’ the 32-year-old actor's bio reads.
The site further reveals that Mumeni will portray a certain Lord Samadani, who doesn't appear in Julia Quinn's novels and, therefore, isn't tied to any existing Bridgerton storyline. However, the 'recurring role' mentioned in his bio suggests that we'll be seeing a lot of this actor in Season 3.
Who Exactly Might Lord Samadani Be?
It seems highly unlikely that David Mumeni's character will be a principal Bridgerton love interest. After all, Eloise's partner has already been cast, and there are rumors that Francesca's future husband will be portrayed by rising star Victor Alli.
This positions Lord Samadani as a potential suitor for Penelope and a main rival for Colin.
‘It could be [a suitor interested in Pen],’ a fan wrote on Reddit when discussing the new cast. ‘He is only 32, so he is in the Bridgerton's actors range.’
As further proof of this theory, fans have noticed that David Mumeni has followed both Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton, who portray Penelope and Colin, on social media, and both actors have reciprocated.
We're well aware of the Bridgerton writers' fondness for love triangles. Penelope and Colin were already involved in one with Marina Thompson in Season 1, but the premise of the new season seems to call for another such plot device. After all, Colin has to face the repercussions of his harsh words in the Season 2 finale, doesn't he?
