One Familiar Contestant is Returning to Survivor 45 This Fall
His face is still fresh in our memories.
It's already September, yet the Writers Guild of America strike is showing no signs of stopping. Adding insult to injury, the Actors' Guild joined the writers in July. As a result, Hollywood has come to a near standstill.
Consequently, many beloved TV shows written and performed by the protesting parties have been put on pause indefinitely. CBS, the largest show-producing network in the US, will not be airing its flagship series – NCIS and Young Sheldon – this fall. Instead, it plans to double its reality and game show production, implying that its most renowned Survivor franchise will soon be dropping a new instalment. This season will feature a familiar contestant.
Why Is Survivor Important?
Survivor premiered at the dawn of this millennium, in 2000. Since then, it has aired for an impressive forty-four seasons, released biannually. Survivor's long consecutive run was interrupted only once by the recent COVID-19 pandemic when the entire world seemed to be put on hold.
Following a diverse group of castaways stranded on remote Fijian islands and vying for the $1 million prize, Survivor is set to return for its forty-fifth instalment in the near future.
Who Is This Old Contestant?
Typically, Survivor introduces a new cast every season. Furthermore, since 2020, it has upheld a 50% diversity mandate, meaning half the cast must be people of colour. However, Survivor 45 appears to have made an exception for Bruce Perreault, a participant from a previous season.
Bruce made an immediate impact in season 44 when he sustained a severe head injury and had to be medically evacuated from the island in the first episode. Given that he didn't have a chance to demonstrate his abilities, he has been granted another opportunity to participate in the popular competition show.
Perreault won't be the only familiar face in Survivor 45, though. The show's long-standing host, Jeff Probst, will be returning to his role that has earned him four Emmy nominations over the years.
More importantly, Survivor 45 will feature 90-minute-long weekly episodes for viewers to enjoy. Perhaps this is CBS's way of compensating for its missing shows. Hopefully, season 45 will not disappoint, and Bruce will avoid injury this time around.
