The Countdown finale is all anyone can talk about, and one big question is hanging over fans: does Oliveras make it out alive?

Countdown ended its first season with the kind of cliffhanger that makes you check the progress bar to see if there’s secretly more episode left. Amber Oliveras is kidnapped, told to run, a rifle tracks her through the trees... and cut to black. And here’s the kicker: the actor playing Amber says she genuinely doesn’t know if her character is alive either.

Jessica Camacho, who plays Amber, told Collider she’s in the dark about Amber’s fate just like the rest of us:

"I really have no idea what happens, and I personally cannot wait to find out."

She did break down where Amber’s head is at during that final sequence: it’s less tactical chess and more raw survival. She’s trying to think her way through it, sure, but when you’re being hunted, instinct takes over. Camacho also called the shoot surprisingly intense. Once the cameras rolled and Grant Harvey locked in as Todd, he barked at her to run with such a menacing look that her body just reacted. Not pretend fear — the kind you feel in your chest. She loves those moments where the scene stops feeling like acting and starts feeling real.

Quick refresher on where the show leaves things:

  • Premiere: Countdown launched June 25, 2025 on Amazon Prime Video.
  • The setup: It’s a thriller about Task Force Armor, a secret government unit led by Eric Dane’s Nathan Blythe, chasing down terrorist threat Todd, played by Grant Harvey.
  • The pivot: The finale shifts from the larger manhunt to Todd abducting Amber Oliveras (Camacho) and taking her to an isolated area.
  • The last shot: Todd orders Amber to run, lines up a sniper shot, and the episode cuts out before we see if he pulls the trigger.

So yes, this is one of those classic TV moves where even the actor doesn’t get the answer, which either means they’re guarding the surprise or they haven’t told the cast yet. Either way, the show leaves Amber’s survival intentionally unresolved. Effective? Absolutely. Infuriating? Also yes.
