OFMD Fans, Did You Notice Taika Waititi's Kids in Season 2 Episode 6?
The beloved star got his first her first acting jobs.
Without a doubt, Max's Our Flag Means Death is the most comforting and beloved comedy on air right now, as the feel-good vibes of the first season have only gotten bigger and better in the ongoing second chapter of the rag-tag crew of LGBTQ+ pirates. With just one episode to go, the second season has already proven to be a perfect continuation, with the quality of writing, acting and production design increasing significantly, while still maintaining the endearing amateurish vibe.
And while all eyes were glued to Taika Waititi and Rhys Darby's performances as a pair of pirates in love, fans also got to see some pretty wacky easter eggs in the recently released episode 6, and discovered that some of the child actors were not the complete nobodies everyone thought they were.
Waititi's dad skills
The thing is, two children who play small roles in the latest episode are actually Waititi's kids, Te Hinekahu and Matewa Kiritapu. The actor and director has often talked about how involved he is in his children's lives, even revealing that he brings them to the set of every TV show he works on, and it looks like this time he finally decided to allow them some on-camera action.

And while the idea of a producer and actor giving his kids roles on a major show he's working on might scream nepo baby to many, fans of OFMD refused to hate on Waititi for it, arguing that the energy the two adorable youngsters brought to the episode was perfectly in line with the feel-good vibes the show is known for.
Moreover, this isn't the first time OFMD has featured an actor's children in small roles, as Rhys Darby's own son played the young version of Stede at one point during the show, to widespread fan praise, with Rhys being hailed as a great dad for giving his son a chance to shine.
Don't forget that OFMD is essentially a family show, so Waititi's kids playing small roles in it has nothing to do with him trying to build a career for them, just that he cares deeply for his children.
