Prepare for another heist: 18 years after Ocean's 13, George Clooney says Ocean's 14 starts shooting in 2026.

Looks like Danny Ocean might dust off the tux again. George Clooney says the long-discussed Ocean's 14 is finally inching out of rumor territory and into reality.

So, is this actually happening?

Clooney chatted with E! at the New York Film Festival and said the money is in place and the team is trying to lock a start date. His words, not mine:

"We just got the budget approved at Warner Bros. and we're trying to set up," Clooney said. "It's just scheduling, so it's just setting a start date for us, probably start in about nine or 10 months, shooting."

Do the math and that points to cameras rolling in 2026. Warner Bros. hasn't officially announced anything on their end yet, but if Clooney is talking this specifically, the wheels are clearly turning.

Who's coming back to the table?

Clooney says he's ready to reunite with his usual partners-in-crime: Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, and Julia Roberts. He even mentioned grabbing dinner with Roberts the night before, and called them all close friends. Translation: if schedules line up, expect the core crew to return.

What's the angle this time?

Back in 2023, Clooney said they had a script he loved and hinted at the tone: think Going in Style. That's the 1979 heist comedy where three older friends (played by George Burns, Art Carney, and Lee Strasberg) decide to rob a bank. If that vibe holds, expect a slick caper with some age-meets-experience swagger baked in.

About that director seat...

Steven Soderbergh, who directed the original Ocean's trilogy, doesn't sound like he's coming back. He's said he felt the series wrapped up for him after the third film, and when the studio asked about continuing, he passed because it didn't feel like a forward move for what he wants to do now.

Edward Berger (Conclave) was close to signing on at one point, but he ultimately walked away, saying the franchise belongs to Soderbergh stylistically and he didn't see what fresh angle he could bring to it. There's also been chatter that David Leitch has been in early talks. No decisions are official yet.

  • Budget: approved at Warner Bros.
  • Timeline: aiming to start shooting in roughly 9–10 months (so, 2026)
  • Likely cast: Clooney, Pitt, Damon, Cheadle, Roberts (pending schedules)
  • Script: Clooney says it's great; tone nods to the 1979 Going in Style
  • Director: Soderbergh unlikely; Edward Berger passed; David Leitch has been in early talks
  • Official studio confirmation: still not announced publicly

We're not across the finish line yet, but this is the most concrete movement we've heard in years. If Soderbergh stays out, I'm curious how a new filmmaker plays in his sandbox. Either way, if the old crew really gets back together, I'm in.
