Now You See Me Teases a TV Series Before the Next Big-Screen Heist
Abracadabra: the Now You See Me heist saga is eyeing a small-screen spin, with producer Bobby Cohen teasing a TV series to expand the franchise’s bag of tricks ahead of the next film.
The Now You See Me crew might be pulling a new trick: TV. Producer Bobby Cohen says the magic/heist franchise has been flirting with a small-screen spinoff, and the concept they kicked around is actually pretty fun.
So, is a Now You See Me show really happening?
Kind of. Speaking to The Direct, Cohen confirmed there have been ongoing conversations about a TV expansion. The priority, he says, is not to just stretch a movie plot across a season and call it a day. The goal would be something that feels connected but plays by its own rules.
"What you wouldn't want to do is just take the movie and spread it out over eight hours and call it a television show. You'd want to come up with something that was completely different."
The idea on the table (and it's a good one)
Cohen said he's talked to a lot of working magicians, and a surprising number of them start out as apprentices, often backstage for marquee Vegas acts. That little behind-the-curtain detail sparked a premise: a famous headliner is murdered, and the four assistants who work for him instantly become the prime suspects. The twist? They have to use their skills in misdirection and illusions to clear their names and catch the real killer. It's set in the same universe, but not just a remix of the films. Honestly, if they make that version, I'm in.
Where things stand right now
- Conversations about a series have been happening for a while, but nothing is greenlit.
- The mandate, per Cohen, is to make it feel connected to the films while being completely different.
- Cohen didn't share specifics like casting, a platform, or a timetable.
- Meanwhile, the movie side is still the priority: Now You See Me: Now You Don't hits theaters on November 14, 2025.
