Now That Bridgerton S4 Will Focus on Benedict, What Other Stories Might It Explore?
As always, he won't be the only character whose story unfolds in the new season.
Summary
- Benedict has been officially announced as the main protagonist of Season 4.
- Season 3 introduced many storylines that fans would like to see explored in the next season.
- The fourth season could continue Bridgerton's tradition by showing the main characters from Season 3.
When it was revealed, two months after Bridgerton's Season 2 premiere, that the Netflix series would deviate from the order of the Julia Quinn novels on which it is based and follow Colin and Penelope's love story instead of Benedict's, many fans were surprised. Whether that change was for the better is still up for debate, but the revelation itself seems to have set a pattern for the streaming service.
Now, two months after the premiere of Part 1 of Season 3 of Bridgerton, it has been announced that Benedict will be the central character of the next installment of the popular romantic drama. This news may not come as a surprise – especially since there have been many hints, including the casting of a new female lead – but it still gives a lot of reasons to be excited about Season 4. And if not for Benedict's storyline, then for the ones that could frame it.
Season 3 introduced many additional storylines that largely took the focus away from Colin and Penelope's romance. Eloise and Cressida's unlikely and short-lived friendship, Francesca's marriage to John Stirling, Benedict's affair with Lady Tilley Arnold and her friend Paul, and Violet's budding relationship with Lady Danbury's younger brother, Marcus Anderson, all captivated audiences in Season 3. Naturally, many fans would like to see these storylines explored in Season 4.
Benedict & Lady Tilley Arnold
Although Tilley is nowhere to be found in J. Quinn's books, she played a crucial role in the life of the show's Benedict, helping him to understand himself better. For this reason, it would be nice to see what will become of their relationship in future seasons now that they have parted ways. Will they stay in touch in Season 4? Will Benedict even think about her and Paul? There are too many questions.
Newlyweds
Netflix's Bridgerton has a tradition of giving a nod to previous romantic leads in new installments of the show. Season 2 featured Daphne. Season 3 had a lot of scenes with Anthony and Kate. And Season 4 is expected to offer a glimpse into the married lives of Penelope and Colin, who now have a baby, and Francesca and John. And given Francesca's fascination with John's cousin Michaela, their arc would be very compelling to follow.
Gardener Wanted
When Violet Bridgerton revealed to Lady Danbury in Season 2 that she was missing touch, implying that her sexuality had been reawakened, many fans expected the show to delve more into her storyline in Season 3. While the Bridgerton matriarch was introduced to Marcus Anderson, nothing really happened, much to the chagrin of many viewers. Therefore, Season 4 has to explore Violet's love life in more detail.
Anyway, Season 4 is still two years away, so we can only guess what it will bring us when it premieres.
