Not Only Twilight: 5 Best Movies About Vampires to Watch This Halloween
There are no better movies for Halloween than the vampire movies.
Different seasons are often associated with certain cult films that have helped create a special atmosphere for many years.
For example, Twilight appears on the screens in the fall. However, in the world of vampire cinema, there are many other films that are perfect for cozy fall evenings that are no worse than the famous franchise.
1. The Addiction, 1995
Philosophy student Kathleen is bitten by a vampire and begins to experience changes in her mind and body. Along with her growing thirst for blood, the woman gains a new perspective on life and human nature. She begins to question addiction, violence and the meaning of existence.
Abel Ferrara's film is perhaps one of the most provocative and memorable vampire movies ever made. The black and white cinematography heightens the sense of fear and hopelessness, and the abundance of dark scenes emphasizes the inner torment of the main character.
2. Vampires vs. the Bronx, 2020
Vampires vs. the Bronx by Oz Rodriguez tells the story of a group of teenagers who are forced to protect their home from a vampire invasion. The story begins with the boys noticing a series of strange events: a real estate company is actively buying up properties, former owners and residents are disappearing without a trace.
Soon the friends find out that a group of vampires is to blame, and they have their own plans for the Bronx. Unwilling to share their favorite neighborhood with bloodsuckers, the teens decide to stand up to their enemies, using all the knowledge about vampires they have gleaned from movies and books.
3. The Invitation, 2022
Artist Evie takes a DNA test after her mother's death and learns that she has distant relatives in England. One of them, a man named Oliver, invites the woman to a wedding in England. At first, Evie enjoys the trip, but soon notices something strange about her hosts. It turns out that they are all vampires and they need Evie for a ritual.
The plot is inspired by Bram Stoker's classic novel, but the movie itself is more reminiscent of melodramatic vampire movies and TV series like True Blood. The authors mix horror about noble vampires and criticize the rich.
4. Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person, 2023
Sasha is a young vampire. Her relatives push the girl to bite her first victim, and the choice falls on a teenager with suicidal tendencies named Paul. However, as time passes, Sasha begins to have feelings for the future dinner: she doubts whether she wants to kill people and live in the darkness of the night.
The main character is searching for herself, trying to come to terms with the harsh morals of her family and learning for the first time what love is. The movie successfully balances between black comedy and melodrama, and looks like an improved version of Twilight.
5. Fright Night, 1985
One day, during a meeting with a girlfriend, Charley is distracted by a movement in the window and notices someone carrying a coffin into the basement of a neighboring house. A little later, he sees a man with long fangs in the window. All this leads Charley to believe that his new neighbor Jerry may be a real vampire.
Tom Holland's directorial debut, Fright Night, is the perfect movie to celebrate Halloween with friends. It's a cozy horror with comedy elements.
